Aside from basic maintenance issues, the dormitorios, kitchen and dining areas are complete and viable.

On-going Projects

The purpose of Hogar Alegria is to provide care and compassion to those old folks unable to provide for themselves.  It is not a care facility in the medical sense, but rather a place to have its residents comfortable and adequately fed.

One area that could be enhanced is in additional staffing.  For example; because  of the nature of hospital care in Neiba, if an anciano requires outside  medical services it is necessary that a staff member go along to help feed, wash and generally look after the person.  What we would consider basic nursing care is something that needs to be provided by the patient.  So when a staff member goes to the hospital, an immediate drain is put on the remaining staff resources.

If Hogar is able to hire more care givers, this particular issue can be properly addressed.  And with more care givers, Hogar can extend its services to even more ancianos.  Hogar’s goal is to provide their care to as many folks as possible.  Another 50 residents could certainly do that!
